Lukilab Ruby Maiden and Lukilab First Lights family 2013
19th May - Parents to be looking very happy with themselves as they now start their second family together.... time will tell if they are as gorgeous as the first lot.
12th July - Mum to be is still wagging her tail (even when trying to sit) her thickened middle tells its own story....only about ten days to go before she has her second litter.
We have started a wait list but can still take details of more approved families.

16th July- Lukilab Ruby Maiden came to stay with us yesterday afternoon, she has settled in easily and is busy re exploring the front yard and house . Will get some pics today later when she gets up from her post breakfast nap.
19th July - Ruby Maiden has spent a couple of days resting and exploring, this morning she seemed to be searching for somewhere suitable to start preparing ...seems the whelping box isnt enough! Still eating and happy to be about with other dogs so not expecting anything to happen for another day or two.
........ Stopped eating at tea time so time will tell. |
20th July - Ruby Maiden had her pups yesterday night, two little pups decided to try and enter the world together causing a major traffic jam and so a caesarian was needed to untangle the problem. Mum (looking a little groggy still ) and her pups in this picture was taken when they were two hours old. All had a good night last night.
22nd July - All doing well, mum has been having meals in bed till today- is starting to hop out for the odd five minutes, but very quick to return to her pups at the first murmer.
24th July - Mum still spends her days and nights with her pups feeding and cleaning and snoozing. She is eating huge amounts and as you can see the pups have grown alot in the last two days.
28th July- Mum still spending most of her time with the pups, comes out for meals with the rest of the dogs and the occasional short break with the family. As you can see pups growing fast. They had their nails clipped today to protect mums undercarriage.
3rd August- Pups have grown sooo much. Their eyes are now open and they still enjoy their favorite pastime....feeding. Mum has had her stitches out and has recovered well. She is now spending time with the rest of the human and big dog family but always quick to head back to her pups if they make a noise.
6th August - Pups continue to grow , now playing in their box between sleeps and feeds. This lot have got very thick coats and look a little like furry bears at present :) Not long now till they move to the slightly larger inside nursery. Mum now sleeping on my daughters bed again and just going to pups for feeds overnight. Still very much around them during the day.
6th August...pups moved into the larger indoor nursery area all happy with the move.

9th August - Pups are three weeks old today. They had their first taste of solids this morning and all were very enthusiastic. I think both mum and pups have the right idea about how to spend a cold winters day....snoozing and having morning tea in bed.
11th Aug - Pups taken quickly to solids now on 3 small hand fed meals a day of raw mince either chicken or beef. But after a busy morning rearranging papers, feeding and playing with mum and lunch its siesta time.
14th Aug - Pups have had breakfast , played had pen cleaned and of course had several long visits and feeds from mum already this morning and are now doing what young pups do best....snoozing the morning away till lunch. The red marks on some of the pups backs is nail polish.... I am now looking to see how they are interacting with each other over the next couple of weeks.
17th Aug- Pups had their first visits yesterday and today and are now exhusted.... found time to rip some newspaper before collapsing.....think maybe I will wait another half hour before tea tonite.
21st Aug - Pups are as you can see either sound asleep or on the go. They are close to being able to get out of the nursery barrier....nearly time to go outside at least during the day... am just waiting for the paint fumes from the newly painted floor of the outside nursery to go before giving them a taste of the outdoors. Was also too cold wet and windy yesterday for a first experience.
24th Aug - Pups have had a busy few days, they are outside during the day now and enjoying the new environment. Families have visited over the last two days also.
A couple of pups have had upset stomachs today after lunch ? due to an over large breakfast (at a very early hour thanks to an enthusiastic teen) followed by a normal sized lunch , all is settled at present with the litter all snoozing and no further squirts.
The pic was taken two days ago and as you can see two mums to help them adjust is better
than one :)

25th Aug- a solid nights sleep but up early looking to go for a play at 6am. Perhaps now they have had a breaky of cooked minced chicken fillets they will give mum and me a rest and go back to sleep for awhile ????
27th Aug - Pups were wormed for the second time yesterday and no upset tummies occurred. This morning I caught them coming out to see what the other pups next door were up to at 6am ...they are growing fast and will have a visit from the vet on Thursday to be microchipped and immunized.
2nd Sept - Sorry for the lack of updates, with the other litter leaving over the last few days for their new homes and fathers day etc I have been remiss. Pups are growing quickly still and are now only feeding from mum twice a day....she feels any more is not needed. The family seems to have accquired an extra mouth at feed time though ! The little black girl from the other litter who is still with us has decided if its on offer she may as well partake.
4th Sept - Pups are enjoying the larger of our outdoor nursery areas now and spend their days exploring , playing with toys and of course the constant wrestling and chewing of each other.
6th Sept - This litter are all spoken for and some very excited families are eagerly awaiting the time when their pups go home with them. In the meantime, pups continue to explore and of course watch with interest the renovations occurring in the adjacent empty puppy pen.

13th Sept - Sorry no updates for a few days. Pups are doing well, today the first two left with their new families... we wish them well on their new journeys.
It will seem very quiet here by Sunday afternoon. But I am sure they will all bring love and laughter to their new families.
