20th Feb - after three long days Cafe Mia has had her pups, 7 healthy babies. This litter is all spoken for.
Mum very relaxed and both mum and pups doing well.
Mum very relaxed and both mum and pups doing well.
28th Feb- Wow one week old already. These pups are growing up fast. Today they will have their claws clipped to protect their mums flanks from needle sharp little nails. Mum still ravenous and spends most of her time in the box with her pups or if out within earshot of them.
5th Mar- Pups eyes are starting to open in the corners so they are getting a glimpse of light now. Mum still spends bulk of her day feeding them but does come and join the family a bit more. Still very protective of her babies, not keen of other dogs being anywhere near the room they are in. She is happy to socialize with the other dogs in the family room...sharing the communal bed with all or at meal times or in the yard playing. Pups growing fast...nearly time for two hands to hold them now. Mum still ravenous, working in tandem with the other mum yesterday some defrosting meat in a container magically fell off the freezer ! Sadly for the mums it was rescued.. Both mums getting four meals a day plus snacks and the amount of meat being increased daily.........am off to supplier for another 50kg today
8th March - most of the pups have their eyes fully open and they are all getting quite big. The side of the whelping box is now up (much to mums disgust, she prefers not to jump in!) as pups are now moving about on all fours and they need to be contained. The days are still spent largely sleeping and feeding from mum.
9th Mar - More settled night for humans last nite as pups and mum sleeping longer and quieter in their new surroundings with more space. As mum not happy with sides up on whelping box family moved into indoor nursery area yesterday afternoon... Mum feels the need to rearrange the furnishings but that's OK if she is happy.
10th Mar- A clean bed and all are settled for post morning tea sleep. The days are still spent mostly sleeping and eating.
12th March - Clean bedding must mean time for second breakfast :)
14th Mar-Pups started on solids today and no upset tummies so this is set to be part of their routine in the mornings....raw mince , yum ! Egg carton introduced as a toy for pups though mum seems to have laid claim to this.
15th Mar- Another morning another clean bed and of course time to have a play.... Pups continue on solids. Mum still feeding often.
16th Mar- Pups given intestinal worming treatment today...all doing well. Solids continue much to their delight. Nails clipped again. Mum still feeding every couple of hours.
18th Mar - Exhusting all this eating and sleeping ! Pups wormed today for the first time. Now on two solid meals a day, still feeding just as frequently from mum.
21st March - Our babies have started to meet their new families and are enjoying the attention though after ten minutes are back sleep. Now on 3 solid meals a day plus mum feeding them about every 3-4 hours still.....they are growing fast. First standing feed today also.
23rd March - Pups moved today to outside Nursery for a few hours, Mum not happy but pups delighted to have extra space to explore.
27th March - sorry for lack of updates, Pups are five weeks old today...where is the time going. They are spending their days in the outside nursery and their nights in the inside nursery.....lots of cuddles whilst moving back and forth .
28th March - We have no pups left from this litter , the remaining yellow boy was seen today and chosen to join a lovely family when he is old enough to leave his mum and siblings. Nails were clipped again today to protect mums undercarriage and several families revisited their pups today also. A busy day for all.
29 Mar - Pups exploring the outside for the first time a few days ago.....all very happy to see what the great outdoors held.
1st April - Sorry for the lack of updates but I have had severe gastro and have not been able to tend to the pups...my family have stepped into the breach and are doing an amazing job, I am hoping that I will improve enough today to at least get outside and take a pic or two , am sure they must have grown heaps in the last two days...
5th April - Again apologies for the delay in updating. Time has flown with feeding, cleaning , washing and visitors for the pups , as you can see the pups love to play but have charmed all the owners to be with their calmness and love of a cuddle.
8th April - Pups spent most of yesterday in the outside nursery area snuggled in their warm bed away from the rain. Whenever the sun came out they were quick to get outside and have a quick play. More visitors due today.
10th April - Lukilab Cafe Mia went home this evening to her family and kennel mate...having weaned her pups and now spending little time with them her family were keen to have her back. Her pups are thriving on four meals a day now and will be looked after by myself and the lukilab girls who are keen to babysit.
11th April - Pups slept well, are eating very well and had a busy day with visitors, not to mention regular check ups from the Lukilab girls who have popped into the puppy yard a few times to check all is well.
12th April - 4x Great Grandma visiting her grandkids and making sure all is well....even at 13+ she feels the need to go in twice a day and make sure all are behaving and ok ! Sorry about the quality of the picture....the light at 7am isnt so good .
16th April - not long now till this mob leave for their new homes, some very excited families visiting and keen to get their pups home to test the new kennels, toys and see if the puppy proofing of yards and houses was well done !
17th & 18th April - A couple of exciting and busy days. Our pups have joined their new families and so far all seem to be doing well... Thanks to those who have sent pics. I wish all this litter long and happy lives with your wonderful new families.
